Statement of Purpose

The Flint Women's Forum brings together people of professional achievement and influence in the community. 

Through educational programs and the exchange of ideas, experiences and resources, members contribute to one another's professional advancement, increase the visibility of women leaders and facilitate the effectiveness of women in the community.

Membership

Membership in the Flint Women's Forum is open to those who demonstrate leadership in their fields of endeavor, who believe in the purpose of the Women's Forum, who will participate actively, and who are effective in an extended network.

Criteria

The Flint Women’s Forum values professional and community involvement.  The Flint Women’s Forum is open to persons in positions of leadership and influence, or persons who are active in the community, as demonstrated by career achievement or community contributions.  Flint Women’s Forum members utilize leadership skills on a daily basis, continuously seeking ways to enhance and improve these skills through advanced experience.  The skills to be considered are:  organization, planning and development, decision making, communication, problem solving, administration, human relations, and evaluation.

Procedure

Applications can be obtained from the membership chairperson or from our website after attending a Flint Women’s Forum meeting.  The completed form should be mailed to the address indicated on the application.

Upon receipt, an announcement regarding the applicant  will be published in the Forum newsletter.  The applicant is encouraged to attend luncheon meetings as part of the approval process.  A member of the Board will take the individual to lunch to discuss the purpose and goals of the organization and the applicant’s interest in joining.  The Board will make a recommendation regarding the applicant to the membership chairperson, who will, in turn, notify the individual of the Board’s decision.

Upon approval, membership is finalized by payment of membership dues.  The applicant will be officially welcomed into the Forum during an induction ceremony at the monthly meeting that follows.
